Racheal Angelica O Manakakapu Guttenbeil

Racheal Angelica O Manakakapu Guttenbeil is a new young Tongan lawyer, community youth influencer, and cultural ambassador. Born and raised in the Vava’u islands of the Kingdom of Tonga, she comes from a close-knit family and is one of seven children, whose upbringing helped shape her commitment to service and excellence.

Racheal pursued higher education at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji, where she completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Commerce with a focus on Human Resource Management. She also holds a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice and has since been admitted to the Tonga Bar Association, allowing her to practice law professionally in Tonga.

While building her legal career, Racheal has balanced professional work with public engagement and advocacy. In 2024 she was crowned Miss Heilala, Tonga’s prestigious cultural pageant title, and went on to represent Tonga at the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant, where she placed first runner-up and won awards including the People’s Choice and Best Traditional Attire.

Beyond pageantry, Racheal works in public service, combining her legal insight with roles such as a Marketing Officer for the Tonga Tourism Authority and uses her platform to advocate for issues including youth empowerment, cultural pride, mental health awareness, and sustainable development across the Pacific region.

Racheal’s journey as a legal professional is just beginning, but she already represents a new generation of Tongan lawyers who blend academic achievement, public service, and cultural leadership as they contribute to community development and the legal profession in Tonga. She is very much interested on developing her legal work in all aspects of law but mainly on civil, employment and land law under the supervision of senior lawyers. She is committed to do her utmost best to justice through humility, serving with integrity, competence, professionalism and compassion.
